YG: “Junkyu Needs Focused Rest… We Support His Healthy Return”

TREASURE member Junkyu is taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on his health, his agency announced Thursday.

YG Entertainment broke the news via their official channels, stating that Junkyu will be stepping back from his duties with the K-pop boy band for an undisclosed period.

“Despite battling ongoing health issues, Junkyu has been giving his all to maintain the group’s momentum,” the agency said in a statement. “After careful consideration and discussions with Junkyu and his team, we’ve decided it’s in his best interest to take a break and prioritize his well-being at this time.”

As a result, Junkyu will be absent from TREASURE’s upcoming schedules, including the planned music video shoot for their B-side track “DANGER.”

The agency added, “We’re fully committed to supporting Junkyu’s recovery so he can return to his fans stronger than ever. We kindly ask for TREASURE MAKERS’ understanding and continued support during this time.”

Junkyu also addressed fans directly through a heartfelt letter posted on Weverse, TREASURE’s fan community platform.

“I’m putting pen to paper in hopes that my sincerity reaches you,” he wrote. “In our relentless pursuit of success, I realize I’ve been ignoring some important signals my body and mind have been sending me.”

He continued, “While I’ve always strived to show you my best, I’ve come to understand that I need to take a step back and re-evaluate. After thorough discussions with the company, we agreed that a hiatus is necessary for my overall health and future.”

Junkyu also expressed remorse for any concern his announcement might cause fans. “I’m deeply sorry for worrying our TREASURE MAKERS, who have been our unwavering support through everything,” he said.

The idol concluded his message on a hopeful note: “I choose to see this break as an opportunity to become a healthier, happier version of myself. I promise to return to you with a bright smile. Thank you for your love and support – it means everything to me.”
