Why Hwang Hyun-min is Reviving a 17-Year-Old Controversy with Bae Jung-nam: The Shocking Truth Behind the Claims
Hwang Hyun-min Discloses Reason for Revisiting 17-Year-Old Controversy

Former Jam member turned entrepreneur Hwang Hyun-min has once again taken aim at actor Bae Jung-nam.
On August 18, Hwang explained via his social media account why he brought up a 17-year-old incident involving Bae.
He stated, "I didn't mention this old incident just to rehash the past. I felt it was hypocritical for someone to post the Korean flag on social media on Independence Day, acting like a conscientious citizen, while staying silent on issues like election fraud, re-elections, and voting rights." Hwang added, "I wanted to give him a wake-up call, hoping he'd drop the fake patriot act and just live quietly as he always has."
Previously, on August 17, Hwang had referenced assault allegations involving Bae and Marco. Claiming to have been Marco's agency rep at the time, Hwang alleged, "Marco punched Bae at a club, knocking out two of his front teeth. I personally paid Bae 20 million KRW (about 15,000 USD) to settle the matter the next day." He also claimed Bae had called in gangsters from Busan to threaten Marco.
In his latest post, Hwang insisted, "Everything I wrote is 100% true. If I was out for revenge, I would've spilled all the gory details of that night."
He maintained there were witnesses to back him up. "Many people saw what went down, not just my friends who were there. With so many witnesses, I can't lie," Hwang asserted. "Marco and I never got physical with the thugs, and I still remember the names of two of the four gangsters Bae called in."
The assault allegations involving Bae and Marco first surfaced in 2009. In 2017, Bae addressed the incident on MBC's "Radio Star," saying he was hit by one of Marco's crew but didn't fight back. He revealed that a blurry video of the brawl circulated as if it was him, damaging his career.
That same year, Marco appeared on MBC Every1's "Video Star," clarifying that he and Bae didn't directly fight. The show even featured a phone call between the two, where they cleared up misunderstandings and confirmed no hard feelings.
Now, 17 years later, Hwang's recent comments have reignited the controversy. Bae Jung-nam has yet to respond to Hwang's repeated claims.
