Ascend Vows Tough Action Against Sexually Harassing Posts

Red Velvet's Wendy to Take Strong Stance Against Malicious Comments Ascend (ASND), the management agency for Red Velvet member Wendy, has announced plans to take decisive action against sexually explicit posts and comments targeting the artist's appearance and physique.

In a statement released on their official social media channels on the 19th, Ascend reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of Wendy and other artists under their management.

The agency reminded the public of their previous notice, which warned of severe consequences for malicious defamation, spreading false information, and sexual harassment directed at their artists.

Despite this initial warning, Ascend reports that harmful posts and comments have persisted. The agency stated, "We continue to observe malicious critiques, derogatory remarks, and sexually objectifying content targeting our artists' appearances and bodies."

Ascend emphasized that actions such as sexually explicit comments about an artist's body, mockery of their appearance, or the malicious spread of false information are clear violations of the artist's dignity and rights. "These cannot be dismissed as mere opinions or protected under freedom of expression. They constitute clear defamation," the agency asserted.

The company plans to take a proactive approach in addressing these issues. Ascend stated, "We are actively collecting evidence from current and future malicious posts and comments. We will respond forcefully to any infringement on our artists' rights, regardless of the perceived severity."

The agency further cautioned, "We will maintain vigilant monitoring of harmful activities to protect our artists' dignity and rights, and we will not hesitate to pursue necessary legal action in response."

Ascend's roster includes Wendy and the K-pop girl group Fromis_9, among other artists.
