MC Mong Surprises Student with Tuition Money at College Festival

Singer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun) made waves at a recent college festival by gifting a student with cash for tuition.

The rapper took center stage at Kyonggi University in Suwon on September 11, treating the crowd to a mix of new and classic hits. His setlist included "Young Days," a pre-release track from his upcoming 10th studio album, along with fan favorites like "Circus," "Ice Cream," and "Love Mix."

As the show reached its climax, MC Mong unveiled a surprise he had up his sleeve. He invited an enthusiastic fan from the audience to join him on stage. After learning the student juggled three part-time jobs, the rapper handed over a substantial bundle of cash.

"Spend it on drinks, clothes, whatever you want," MC Mong told the stunned student. "It's money from the school anyway, and I wanted to pass it on to someone who caught my eye." Sources report the amount was equivalent to a full semester's tuition.

This generous act wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision. MC Mong had previously teased the giveaway during a TikTok live stream, promising to select one lucky student for the tuition support at the Kyonggi University festival finale. He expressed his belief that good deeds have a way of coming back around.

The gesture comes in the wake of controversy for MC Mong. In May, he found himself in hot water after name-dropping singer-actor Kim Min-jong in connection with an alleged illegal gambling ring in the entertainment industry. Kim's team responded with a defamation lawsuit, which MC Mong initially brushed off during a live broadcast, saying, "Getting sued? No big deal. I've been cleared twice already."

However, the situation took a turn when MC Mong acknowledged his mistake and issued an apology for his comments. As a result, Kim Min-jong withdrew the lawsuit on September 10.
