Resenne's Minami Reveals Her Secret to Mastering Korean... and Perfect Pitch

Minami, a member of the K-pop girl group Resenne, is turning heads with her exceptional pitch recognition and impressive Korean language skills.

A video titled "[Limousine Service] EP.211 Resenne Minami RESCENE MINAMI Runaway, If It Were Me, My Gospel, Timeless" was uploaded to the KBS Kpop YouTube channel in April.

In the clip, Minami astounded singer-songwriter Lee Mujin with her ability to instantly identify musical notes by ear. Her remarkable auditory skills, which allow her to distinguish pitches from the briefest of sounds, left viewers in awe.

During the "Limousine Service" segment, Minami shared insights into her language learning process. She explained that in Japanese, the "sa" sound is softer, while in Korean, the "s" in words like "sarang" (love) requires a different breath weight. To perfect her Korean singing, Minami practices adjusting her breath intensity. She also revealed that when learning Korean, she focuses not just on vocabulary but on mimicking the exact sounds and intonations used by native speakers.

This meticulous approach to language acquisition is evident in Minami's fluent Korean. Despite being Japanese, she has garnered attention for her natural Korean accent and exceptional linguistic abilities. Minami has consistently impressed audiences on various Korean variety shows with her effortless communication skills, even adopting colloquial expressions and mannerisms. Her Korean proficiency was notably highlighted during a June appearance on JTBC's popular show "Knowing Bros."

Meanwhile, Resenne, Minami's group, is experiencing a resurgence of popularity thanks to their 2022 track "LOVE ATTACK." The song has made an unexpected climb up the music charts nearly two years after its release, solidifying its status as one of Resenne's signature hits. As it continues to dominate various charts, all eyes are on Resenne's upcoming comeback on November 3rd, with fans eager to see if the group can maintain this momentum.
